The Shin-Hamamatsu station ( Japanese 新 浜 松 駅 , Shin-Hamamatsu-eki ) is a train station on the Japanese island of Honshū , operated by the Enshū Tetsudō railway company . It is located in Shizuoka Prefecture in the area of Hamamatsu City , more precisely in the central district of Naku-ku .

description

Shin-Hamamatsu is a head station and the southern terminus of Enshū-line by Nishi-Kajima . The trains of the Enshū Tetsudō (Entetsu) train run every twelve minutes during the day and every 20 minutes in the early morning and late evening. The main train station and the central bus station are each around 150 meters to the east and north-east .

The station is in the central district of Kajimachi, right next to the Entetsu department store , which belongs to the same group as the railway company. The facility, oriented from south to north, comprises three floors, with the entrance on the ground floor and the platform hall at the top. The platform barriers can be found on the level in between , and a pedestrian bridge leads directly into the department store from there . The two tracks of the station form the beginning of an almost five kilometer long viaduct through the city center.

In 2016, the station had an average of 15,920 passengers a day, making it the most frequented on the Enshū railway line.

history

A predecessor of the Entetsu, the Enshū Denki Tetsudō , opened the city-side terminus of the Enshū railway line on September 1, 1927. It was called Asahi-machi ( 旭日 町 ) and was located a little further northeast at the location of today's Hotel Crown Palais Hamamatsu ( see map ). The entrance was from the east; In order to get to the current route of the Enshū railway line, a hairpin had to be negotiated . On August 1, 1953, the station was renamed Shin-Hamamatsu. Their unfavorable location and the ground level alignment resulted in operational restrictions, which is why the Entetsu planned a new building.

In December 1980, construction work on the viaduct began. Two months later, on February 4, 1981, the Entetsu shut down the old terminus and replaced it with a temporary arrangement. After almost five years of construction, the viaduct was put into operation on December 1, 1985, together with today's Shin-Hamamatsu terminus. Since then, the route has led directly from the north and the cumbersome detour via the hairpin was no longer necessary. The Entetsu department store connected to the train station opened in September 1988.
