description

Atsumi line train

Shin-Toyohashi is a head station , and northern terminus of Atsumi line after Mikawa Tahara on the Atsumi Peninsula leads. The railway company Toyohashi Tetsudō , a subsidiary of the Meitetsu Group , is responsible for its operation . Local trains run continuously every 15 minutes between 6:00 a.m. and 11:30 p.m.

The station is located in the central district of Ekimae-ridōri and borders the Toyohashi station to the north of it , separated by a forecourt enclosed on three sides. It has two butt-ended tracks on a central platform . There is a track connection to the parallel Tōkaidō main line , but it requires several maneuvers and is therefore rarely used. A FamilyMart branch and a private advanced training school are integrated into the three-storey reception building .

history

The Atsumi Dentetsu railway company put the Atsumi line into operation in several stages in 1924/25 , but the city-side terminus was a few hundred meters from the main train station at the Hanada stop. After acquiring the necessary land, the route was extended to this point on October 1, 1927. The new terminus was initially called Toyohashi-ekimae ( 豊 橋 駅 前 , German "in front of the Toyohashi station") and was given the current name Shin-Toyohashi ( 新 豊 橋 , German "New Toyohashi") on October 13th .

Through a merger, the Atsumi line went into the possession of the Nagoya Tetsudō railway company on September 1, 1940 . An American area bombing on June 19 and 20, 1945 not only destroyed large parts of the city, but also caused serious damage to the station; nevertheless the traffic could be resumed after a short time. Since a restructuring of the Meitetsu group on October 1, 1954, Toyohashi Tetsudō is responsible. The current station building, which has been moved about 50 meters, has been in operation since June 5, 2008.
