history

The street is named after the Dürener Kreisbahn (DKB) that opened on October 6, 1908 . Between the intersections of Valencienner Strasse and Monschauer Strasse, the Ringbahn and the DKB's Rölsdorf - Gürzenich tram line passed through it. The section north of Valencienner Strasse and the roughly north-south section south of Monschauer Strasse were later built on the disused route of the Ringbahn. The Rölsdorf freight station and the DKB tram depot were located directly south of Monschauer Strasse.
