The Örebro – Skebäck railway line is now an industrial track in the Swedish city of Örebro .

Örebro – Skebäck Järnvägs AB

The concession for the 4.1 kilometer route was granted on December 31, 1901 for passenger and freight traffic and transferred on April 25, 1902 to Örebro – Skebäck Järnvägs AB , which belongs to the city of Örebro . First, a line was built in standard gauge that ran from Örebro Södra station in a south-easterly direction to Skebäck, where the old port of Örebro was. Freight traffic began on this route on January 12, 1904 .

In 1908 the route was supplemented with a third rail for narrow-gauge traffic from Norra Östergötlands Järnvägar (NÖJ).

In 1920 the total construction costs of the route were put at 198,110 crowns . The share capital at the same time was 100,500 crowns.

From December 8, 1942, the entire line was controlled as a block section from Örebro S station.

Until 1951, coal was transported from Norrköping to the Örebro gas works on the narrow-gauge track .

nationalization

The Norra Östergötlands Järnvägar were taken over by Statens Järnvägar (SJ) through the general nationalization of the railways in 1951 , which enabled coal to be transported to the power station via standard gauge tracks . This made the third track superfluous and dismantled again.

With the expiry of the concession on January 1, 1956, general freight traffic on the route ended. After that, the line was used as an industrial track for the industrial area of the same name until the Örebro pappersbruk was closed in 2010. The route is still there, but there is no traffic.
