The Kamenický Šenov – Česká Lípa střelnice railway was a railway connection in today's Czech Republic , which was originally built and operated as a state-guaranteed local railway Bohemian Leipa – Steinschönau (Czech: Místní dráha Česká Lípa – Česká Kamenice ). It connected to the local railway from Česká Kamenice / Böhmisch Kamnitz in Kamenický Šenov and led over the Lusatian Mountains to Česká Lípa ( Bohemian Leipa ). The line was shut down in 1979 and dismantled a little later.

history

On March 24, 1902, the concession to build and operate a standard-gauge local train locomotive from Böhmisch Leipa to Steinschönau was granted. The company's share capital totaled 847,000 kroner in 4,235 common shares of 200 kroner each.

The line was opened on August 29, 1903.

The operation was run by the Bohemian Northern Railway (BNB) on behalf of the owners. After its nationalization in 1909 the kk Staatsbahnen (kkStB) took over the management. After the First World War , management was transferred to the newly founded Czechoslovak State Railways (ČSD).

On January 1, 1925, the local railway Böhmisch Leipa – Steinschönau was nationalized by law and the line was integrated into the ČSD network.

After the Sudetenland was annexed to Germany on October 1, 1938, the entire line came to the Deutsche Reichsbahn , Reichsbahndirektion Dresden . In the imperial course book from the summer of 1939, the connection was included as course book route 136d Böhmisch Kamnitz – Böhmisch Leipa .

After the end of the Second World War on May 9, 1945, the entire line came back to the ČSD, which resumed traffic with three pairs of passenger trains passing through.

On September 30, 1979, travel was stopped.

Vehicle use

Komarek railcar kkStB 1.0

Originally, steam railcars were to be used in passenger transport, but because of the insufficient performance, the two Komarek railcars purchased by Ringhoffer were later used on other local railways in Bohemia. The operating Bohemian Northern Railway initially used the VIa series on the route. In 1908 the Bohemian Northern Railway procured two tank locomotives of the VIb series from the First Bohemian-Moravian Machine Factory in Prague , which then ran on the line until 1949.

From 1949 the newly delivered class M 131.1 railcars took over passenger traffic, which were in use until operations were closed. The last passenger trains were driven in the summer of 1979 with the then new class M 152.0 railcars .
