The kkStB 162 was a tender steam locomotive series of the kk Staatsbahnen (kkStB) with the axle formula C n2t, which came from several different private railways. The 162.01–04 , 14–15 and 16–20 were taken over by the Austrian Northwest Railway (ÖNWB), the 162.05–12 and 43–45 came from the Bohemian Northern Railway (BNB), the 162.21–23 were procured by the kkStB itself The 162.24–30 came from the Reichenberg-Gablonz-Tannwalder Railway (RGTE) and the 162.41–42 from the Kaiser Ferdinands-Nordbahn (KFNB).

The ÖNWB had four tank locomotives of type Cn2t built at Wiener Neustädter Lokomotivfabrik for the local railway Großpriesen-Wernstadt-Auscha in 1890 , which were given the numbers 1A-4A and later became kkStB 162.01-04 .

The machines did their job so well that five locomotives of the same type were procured for the SNDVB in 1895. They were given the numbers 451–455 at the ÖNWB and belonged to the series ÖNWB XV . After the ÖNWB was taken over by the kkStB , they became 162.16-20 .

The following locomotives were also purchased according to the same construction scheme:

The locomotives were built by the Bohemian-Moravian Machine Factory , the Wiener Neustadt , Floridsdorf and Krauss / Linz locomotive factories .

After the First World War , most of the locomotives of this series came to ČSD , which classified them as series 313.4 . A locomotive from the former BNB fleet came to the CFR in Romania . During the Second World War they had the DR numbers 98.1211-1228 . After 1945 the remaining machines landed at the ČSD again , where they served on some local railways for a while - u. a. the service on the Großpriesen-Wernstadt-Auscha local railway with gradients of up to 40 ‰ is occupied until 1950. The locomotives then moved to the shifting service and later to the works service. The last machines were the 313,404 (service in the Turnov depot ) and 313,424 (in Česká Lípa ), which were retired in 1966.

The locomotive 313.432 has been preserved as an operational museum locomotive.

The two locomotives kkStB 162.41-42 were tank locomotives of the kkStB for branch lines, which originally came from the Kaiser Ferdinands-Nordbahn (KFNB). They had the axle formula Cn2t and were built by the Krauss locomotive factory in Linz in 1895. In operation at the local railway Stramberg – Wernsdorf belonging to the KFNB , they originally had the names WILHELM and CARL as well as the numbers 904 " and 920 of the KFNB IX series . They differed in details from the other machines of the 162 series.
