The Kozłów – Koniecpol railway line is a continuously electrified and mostly double-track railway line in the Polish voivodeships of Lesser Poland , Świętokrzyskie and Silesia .

Course and state of development

The line begins at Kozłów station on the Warszawa – Kraków railway line and runs northwest via the Starzyny junction (km 32.570), where a connecting track branches off towards Włoszczowa – Opoczno – Warsaw , to Koniecpol station (km 43.257) on the Kielce – Koniecpol railway line . There are no longer any train stations between Kozłów and Koniecpol. Kozłów is also not served by the trains that run on the Kozłów – Koniecpol railway line.

The line is electrified throughout and has two tracks from Kozłów to the Starzyny junction. The maximum speed for passenger trains up to the Starzyny junction is one hundred and sixty kilometers per hour for freight trains, and from there to Koniecpol it is one hundred and twenty for passenger trains and eighty for freight trains.

history

The line was opened by the Polish State Railways on December 28, 1971 , and was later electrified by December 29, 1973. The line was later expanded to two tracks, but regional traffic was discontinued in 2000.

On March 3, 2012, the Szczekociny railway accident occurred .
