Swell:

The Landl (Oberbay) Abzw – Frasdorf railway is a branch line in Bavaria . It branches in Rosenheim from the Rosenheim-Salzburg railway and leads to Rohrdorf , the further route to Frasdorf was shut down in 1970 and no longer exists: it was transformed into a bike path.

history

The railway line opened on May 9, 1914.

On September 27, 1970, the section between Rohrdorf and Frasdorf was shut down and dismantled a short time later. A cycle path now runs along the former route . Station buildings are still partially, the reception building of Rohrdorf was demolished 1977th

The remaining section between Landl and Rohrdorf was no longer operated by passenger traffic from this point in time, but continued to exist as a pure freight route to the cement works in Rohrdorf. The extensive freight traffic was handled with diesel locomotives of the series 211 , 212 or 218 . Because of the steep incline in front of Landl, the lead or thrust could also be observed. At the beginning of the 1990s the line was finally electrified, since then block trains with electric locomotives have been able to run directly to the plant of the Südbayerisches Portland-Zementwerk company .

On special occasions, for example on the occasion of the Rosenheim Autumn Festival , passenger trains run between Rohrdorf and Rosenheim again.
