The Lupoglav – Luka Bršica railway is a disused railway line in Croatia . It runs on the Istrian peninsula from Lupoglav to Luka Bršica .

Geographical location

The line branches south of the Lupoglav station - route km 48.9 of the Divača – Pula line - from this (route km 0) and leads via Raša (route km 52.4) to the port of Bršica on the Bay of Rijeka .

history

Most recently there was a maximum speed of 60 km / h on the route. Passenger traffic was only carried out as far as Raša, the route was only served by freight as far as the port of Bršica. At the beginning of 2009 there was a landslide at km 21.4, which interrupted the route. It was then largely shut down on December 26, 2009. Gravel was occasionally driven off only from Učka station (km 5.7) . The facilities fell into disrepair.

future

At the beginning of October 2019, representatives of the Croatian Railway (HZ) and the port of Rijeka signed an agreement to restart the line. The operating company of the port of Rijeka has been expanding the port of Bršica since July 2019 and is also building the necessary railway infrastructure there , which can only be put into operation if the Lupoglav – Luka Bršica railway line is reactivated.
