Swell:

The Mścice – Mielno Koszalińskie railway is a Polish railway between Mścice and Mielno in the West Pomeranian Voivodeship . It has a length of 5.25 kilometers and is single-track .

history

Due to the growing popularity of Groß Möllen ( Polish Mielno ) as a holiday resort, a branch line to the Koszalin – Goleniów railway line was built from there in 1904 , which branched off from the main line in Güdenhagen ( Polish Mścice ). The track construction was carried out by the small railway company Güdenhagen – Groß Möllen GmbH .

The first train on the line ran on August 15, 1905. After several years, the company was no longer able to maintain the rail connection for economic reasons.

The municipal electric tram to Köslin opened a tram line from the train station through the city center to Gollenwald on December 15, 1911 . The company was commissioned by the city administration to plan and build a connection to the seaside resort Nest ( Unieście in Polish ), including the small railway line. On July 1, 1913, the tram connection from Köslin was opened.

On the route between Groß Möllen and Streitz , the trams coming from Köslin and the freight trains coming from Güdenhagen ran on the same track section, which was electrified until the tram was closed on September 30, 1938. From this point in time, as before the tram, trains from Güdenhagen started running.

In 1989 the line was electrified again, but passenger traffic was discontinued on October 1, 1994 . Freight traffic ended on January 1, 2001 . The overhead line was stolen in 2002.

14 years after the end of all traffic, the city of Koszalin reestablished the route and started passenger traffic. After many difficulties with the approval authorities and with the financing, the first regular passenger train from Koszalin to Mielno Koszalińskie left on July 19, 2008 at 5:52 am. In the annual timetable from December 15, 2013 to December 13, 2014, six pairs of trains run, which were reinforced by additional trips in the Polish holiday season from June 15 to August 31, 2014. The travel time of the rail buses is seven minutes.
