The Mutěnice – Kyjov railway was a regional railway connection in the Czech Republic that was originally built as a state-guaranteed local railway by the Brno Local Railway Company (BLEG). It connected Mutěnice with Kyjov in South Moravia . The line was closed in 2009 and dismantled in 2012.

According to a decree of the Czech government, the line was classified as a regional railway ("regionální dráha") since December 20, 1995.

history

On July 14, 1899, the Brno Local Railway Company “received the requested concession for the construction and operation of a standard-gauge local railway from the Mutenitz station of the Saitz – Göding local railway via Dubnian to the Gaya station of the Brno – Vlarapass line operated by the privately owned Austrian-Hungarian company. State railway company along with a tow to the Rudolfschachte ”.

The line was opened on June 2, 1900. The management took over the kk priv. Kaiser Ferdinands-Nordbahn , after its nationalization in 1907 the kk Österreichische Staatsbahnen (kkStB). After the First World War , this task was transferred to the newly founded Czechoslovak State Railways (ČSD).

Until 1923 the line in Kyjov had its own station. In 1930 the route was nationalized.

In 1964 and 1965 the connecting curve near Mutěnice towards Hodonín was built. It enabled direct freight train journeys on the Kyjov – Hodonín route.

With the timetable change on December 12, 2004, passenger trains were stopped. Since then, the route has only been operated in freight traffic.

The line was officially closed on April 30, 2009. The tracks were dismantled from January 2012.
