The Neu-Edingen / Mannheim-Friedrichsfeld-Schwetzingen railway is a 7.5 kilometer long, double-track main line in the Rhine-Neckar metropolitan region .
history
The Baden State Railways opened the operation on July 1, 1880 pursuant to an agreement between the states of Prussia , Baden and Hesse on May 18, 1878. The track closed directly on the Main-Neckar Railway , which until 1902 as Kondominalbahn of these States operated.
Traffic significance
The railway creates the direct connection between the Main-Neckar-Bahn and the Mannheim – Karlsruhe line and enables direct train journeys from both directions, bypassing the Mannheim and Heidelberg railway nodes .
