The Palazzolo – Paratico railway is a railway line in Italy . It connects the Bergamo – Brescia railway line with Paratico , on the southern tip of Lake Iseo .

The railway infrastructure is operated by the state railway company RFI . Passenger traffic is run by the tourist association Ferrovie Turistiche Italiane (FTI) as a museum railway , freight traffic was discontinued in 1998 by the FS .

history

The construction of a branch line of Ferdinand train to Lake Iseo -Ufer was from the industrial centers of the lake (especially the steel mills of Lovere and the cement plants of Pilzone supported). It was completed in 1876. The freight trains came to the lakeshore and were hauled from there . From 1885 onwards, the state line Brescia – Iseo presented a strong competition.

The Palazzolo – Paratico line was operated by a private railway company ( Società Anonima per la ferrovia Palazzolo – Paratico al lago d'Iseo ) and taken over in 1911 by the state FS . In 1966 the FS stopped passenger traffic. In 1994 the Ferrovia del Basso Sebino (FBS) association was founded, which, based on foreign models, represented the first tourist rail transport in Italy. Four years later, the remaining freight traffic and the ferry connection to Lovere were shut down due to the steel crisis.

Motor coaches ALn 668 of the 1400 series from the 1950s were normally used as rolling stock . Sometimes steam locomotives are also used.
