Pyongyang – Siniju railway line

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Pyongyang – Siniju rail line is a railway line under construction in North Korea that will connect Pyongyang with Siniju . The already existing P'yŏngŭi line (kor. 평의선), which also connects both cities, will not be integrated and will continue to exist independently.

construction

The route has been built since 2010 (other sources report from December 8, 2013) for the most part together with the Pyongyang-Sinŭiju expressway and with a maximum speed of 200 km / h it will be the first high-speed route in North Korea. The construction is a joint project of the Korean State Railways (조선 민주주의 인민 공화국 철도성) and China Railways . A new bridge to Dandong would provide a connection to the Shenyang – Dandong high-speed line .

The construction time is estimated at 5 years. [outdated]

Route

The actual route begins near the demilitarized zone (border with South Korea ) in the city of Kaesŏng and continues via Haeju , Sariwŏn , Pyongyang, Sinanju , Chŏngju to the border town of Sinŭiju. The route is to be cordoned off by a fence.

Buildings

Over 70 bridges will be built for the route.
