course

The Połczyn Zdrój – Świdwin railway ran in an east-west direction within today's Powiat Świdwiński and the former Belgard district . It connected the spa town of Połczyn-Zdrój with the current district town of Świdwin over a length of 24 kilometers.

history

Since 1859 the city of Schivelbein (now Polish: Świdwin) was connected to the railway network by the Berlin-Stettiner Eisenbahn-Gesellschaft with the Stargard - Köslin (Koszalin) railway. After almost 40 years, construction began on the first section of the railway line to Bad Polzin (Połczyn-Zdrój) from Schivelbein to Ziezeneff (Czieszeniewo), which went into operation on November 16, 1896.

On December 22nd, 1896, the second section from Ziezeneff to Redel (Redło) was added, until in March and April of 1897 the remaining sections from Redel to Lutzig (Stare Ludzicko) and from there to Bad Polzin could be handed over to rail traffic.

In Bad Polzin, the line was then connected to the newly built railway line from Falkenburg (Złocieniec) to Bärwalde (Barwice) in 1903 .

The Polish State Railways took over the line from the Deutsche Reichsbahn in 1945 and continued to operate it for more than 50 years until it closed it to passenger traffic on March 25, 1996 for economic reasons. On May 1, 1999, except for the section from Świdwin to Smardzko (Simmatzig) , which continued to operate until April 10, 2004, freight traffic was closed. In the meantime, the line has been completely shut down, tracks and sleepers have been removed.
