The Zabrze Biskupice – Gliwice (Borsigwerk – Gleiwitz) railway is a double-track, electrified railway line in the Polish Silesian Voivodeship that is no longer regularly used by passenger traffic .

Course and condition

The line begins at Zabrze Biskupice station (Borsigwerk Stsbf) on the Bytom – Wrocław railway line and runs southwest via the Maciejów Północny junction (km 7,920), from which there is a connection in the direction of Zabrze Makoszowy , to Gliwice station (Gleiwitz; km 13,063) the Katowice – Legnica railway line .

The line is electrified throughout and has two tracks. One track can be used at fifty kilometers per hour, the other at eighty, and in the Zabrze Biskupice station area at one hundred.

history

The line was opened on October 27, 1872 by the Upper Silesian Railway , expanded to two tracks until 1928 and partially re-routed. The line has been electrified since October 23, 1980, and passenger traffic was discontinued in 2001, and has since been resumed and discontinued.
