History and description
The former station keeper's house - which also includes a stable - was probably built around 1870. The building was made of sandstone and has a gable roof covered with beaver tail . It is located on the Darmstadt – Aschaffenburg railway line between the Darmstadt Nord and Darmstadt-Kranichstein stations . It served as the house of the gatekeeper who was responsible for the mechanical operation of the level crossing on Maulbeerallee.
Monument protection
The station keeper's house at the eastern end of Maulbeerallee was probably built in connection with the expansion of the Rhein-Main-Bahn . For architectural, industrial and urban history reasons, the building is considered a cultural monument .
