Baikunthpur is a city in the Indian state of Chhattisgarh .
The city is the capital of the Koriya district . Baikunthpur has the status of a Municipal Council . The city is divided into 31 wards . On the cut-off date of the 2011 census it had 28,431 inhabitants, of which 14,749 were men and 13,682 women . The literacy rate in 2011 was 83.8% and thus above the national average. Hindus make up the majority of the city's population with a share of around 86%. Muslims form a minority with a share of around 10%.
