The Bain Stanislas (German Stanislaus bath) in Plombières-les-Bains , a spa in the French department of Vosges in the Lorraine region , is a former bathing and residential building from the 18th century. The building on the Rue Stanislas since 2001 as a monument ( monument historique protected).

history

The Bain Stanislas was initially called Bain de la Reine (Queen's Bath), as the Duchesses of Lorraine often had their bathing stays here. The rectangular building was originally constructed from 1733 to 1736 and renovated between 1752 and 1758 as it can be seen today.

The house was up to the French Revolution of the canonesses of Remiremont used. It was secularized in 1791 and continued under state management from 1836. In the 19th and 20th centuries, the interior was renovated several times.

In the attic there are still five wooden water tanks clad with lead from the 19th century.

architecture

The five-axis building has a representative portal which, like the ornate window frames, was made from local sandstone . The triangular gable at the end of the middle risalit is adorned with a carved coat of arms with keys and a crown.
