Baishan ( Chinese  白山 市  /  白山 市 , Pinyin Báishān Shì , also Badaojiang , Hun-chiang , Hun-chiang-shih or Hunjian ) is a district-free city in the southeast of the Chinese province of Jilin . Baishan has an area of ​​17,485 km² and about 1.29 million inhabitants (end of 2004). In the east Baishan borders the Autonomous County Yanbian the Koreans , on the west by the city of Tonghua , the north by the city of Jilin and the south by the Democratic People's Republic of Korea . Here the middle reaches of the Yalu forms the state border.

Administrative structure

At the county level, Baishan is made up of two boroughs , two counties, an autonomous county and an independent city. These are:

  • District Jingyu (靖宇县), km² 3094, 140,000 inhabitants, capital: greater community Jingyu (靖宇镇);
  • Changbai Autonomous County of the Koreans (长白 朝鲜族 自治县), 2,496 km², 80,000 inhabitants, capital: Changbai Municipality (长白 镇);
  • Linjiang City (临江市), 3,009 km², 180,000 inhabitants.
