Bakegyamon ( Japanese 妖 逆 門 ) is a manga series that was implemented by Mitsuhisa Tamura based on a concept by Kazuhiro Fujita . It was as anime adapted television series and is in the genres of action , drama and Shonen classify.

The student Sanshirō Tamon ( 多 聞 三 志 郎 ) lives in a small town with little going on. But one day a stranger named Fue ( 不 壊 ) invites him to a game, Bakegyamon . When Sanshirō agrees, he is transferred to another world called Gyaku Nihon ( 逆 日本 , "opposite Japan"). This is where children gather to play Bakegyamon against each other. This tournament takes place every 44 years and was started by someone called the Hell Master . In the game, the children let monsters fight for themselves, and whoever wins the tournament, a wish should be granted. So Sanshirō meets many other children in this world who want to have the most varied of wishes fulfilled and therefore participate.

The manga was published from 2006 to 2007 in the manga magazine Weekly Shōnen Sunday from Shogakukan . The chapters were also published collectively in five volumes. The manga is based on a concept by Kazuhiro Fujita and contains many monsters from his manga series Ushio and Tora .

Viz Media published the series in English as BakéGyamon: Backwards Game , Casterman published it in French and Ching Win published it in Chinese in Taiwan.

Anime adaptation

The Radix studio produced a film version of the manga in 2006, directed by Hiroshi Negishi . The artistic direction was Tsutomu Ishigaki and Tomoyuki Abe was responsible for the character design. This resulted in 51 episodes of 25 minutes each. It was first broadcast from April 3, 2006 to March 26, 2007 on TV Osaka , TV Setouchi and TV Tokyo . This was followed by broadcasts on BS Japan and AT-X .

The television series has been translated into Spanish, Tagalog and Chinese.
