Balazar is a place and a former municipality ( freguesia ) in northern Portugal .

Balazar is part of Guimarães county in Braga district . The community had an area of ​​3.5 km² and 446 inhabitants (as of June 30, 2011).

On September 29, 2013, the municipalities of Balazar and Sande (São Lourenço) merged to form the new municipality of União das Freguesias de Sande São Lourenço e Balazar .
