Balboura ( Greek  Βάλβουρα ) is an ancient city in Asia Minor , in northern Lycia in Turkey .

The Lycian robber Balburos was considered the mythical founder of the city . In the late Hellenistic period, Balboura belonged to a four-city alliance (Tetrapolis) under the leadership of Kibyra , who lived around 84–82 BC. Was dissolved by the Romans. The city was then a member of the Lycian League and with this became part of the province of Lycia et Pamphylia . In late antiquity the city was the seat of a bishop; The titular bishopric of Balbura of the Roman Catholic Church goes back to the diocese .

The city was on two hills and a plain below. On the slopes of the two hills there was a theater, remains of which have been preserved. Some graves have also been preserved, especially sarcophagi.
