Baldur Geipel

Baldur Geipel (born December 24, 1933 in Reichenbach im Vogtland ) is a German sculptor and freelance artist based in Munich .

Baldur Geipel was born as the son of Kurt and Helene Geipel, b. Glauche was born. He attended from 1948 to 1952 the technical school in Oberammergau in the class of Hans Schwaighofer (1920-2000). After passing the journeyman's examination in 1952, he worked in the workshop of Richard Lang (1920–2006) also in Oberammergau in 1952/53. From 1953 to 1959 he studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich as a master class student under Professor Josef Henselmann and obtained his diploma in 1959.

He has been self-employed since 1959. In 1961 he was a DAAD scholar in France. From 1978 to 1996 Baldur Geipel taught as a specialist teacher for sculpture at the college for carpenters and wood carvers in Garmisch-Partenkirchen . Since 1997 he has been working as a freelance artist in Munich, designing in bronze, wood and paper.

Baldur Geipel made numerous study trips to Spain, France, Holland, Egypt, Greece, Italy, Turkey, and to New York.
