Esslingen Artists' Guild
The Künstlergilde Esslingen eV is a self-help association of artistically and scientifically active people.
history
The artists ' guild was founded by Ernst Schremmer : in 1948 he was a co-founder and subsequently managing director of the artists' guild: Association of Expellees of Culture in Esslingen am Neckar .
The guild now has around three hundred members from a wide variety of professions, including painters, singers, musicians, actors, writers and scientists. She sees her work in the tradition of the German cultural landscapes in Eastern and Southeastern Europe and promotes work and organizes exhibitions that reflect the cultural area.
The artists' guild is organized in regional groups and divided into the following specialist groups:
- Visual arts (the group with the largest number of members)
- literature
- music
- photography
- performing Arts
- Journalism
Since the beginning of 1990, the Esslingen Artists' Guild has been awarding the Andreas Gryphius Prize , a literature prize that was first awarded in 1957 in Düsseldorf . The guild carries out the award in Glogau , the birthplace of Andreas Gryphius . The award was named after the most important German sonnet poet of the 17th century.
Other prizes awarded by the artists' guild are the Lovis Corinth Prize for Fine Arts, the Nikolaus Lenau Prize for Poetry, the Literature Competition for Poetry and Short Prose , the Pro Arte Medal and the Johann Wenzel Stamitz Prize for outstanding achievements in the field of music and the Georg Dehio Prize for cultural-historical, intellectual-historical and art-historical publications on historical German cultural landscapes of Central, Eastern and Southeastern Europe.
