Werner Striese (* 1929 in Steinsdorf , Goldberg district , Lower Silesia ) is a German sculptor and photo artist.

Life

He began his training as a wood sculptor and cabinet maker at the Bad Warmbrunn wood carving school under Ernst Rülke , the last director of this school. After the Second World War he continued his studies in Leipzig , Bonlanden and Stuttgart , here again with Ernst Rülke. Since 1950 Striese has also been working as a photo artist (photo / press design and image design).

Striese and Elsbeth Siebenbürger , also a student at the Warmbrunn wood carving school, belong to the Esslingen artists' guild . In his place of residence in Bad Urach , he made furniture and turnery products , created inlays , aluminum and wood sculptures . He also worked as a teacher.

Striese received several prizes and awards.

Exhibitions (selection)

He shows his works, both the woodwork and his photographs, in numerous group and solo exhibitions in his Silesian homeland in Poland , the Czech Republic and Germany. More recent exhibitions included:

  • May 2006: The trees , Exhibition of the Giant Mountains National Park in Hermsdorf / Silesia
  • November 2006 - March 2007: Winter in the Giant Mountains. Photographic impressions by Werner Striese , exhibition of the “Kulturwerk Schlesien” foundation in the Grafschaftsmuseum Wertheim
