Georg Jerzej Krajewski (born April 22, 1925 in Warsaw , Poland , † December 18, 2007 in Rehweiler , Kusel district , Rhineland-Palatinate ) was a German painter.

life and work

Krajewski first completed a degree at the Warsaw Conservatory with a focus on harmony and composition. He worked as a pianist and composer in Warsaw (Poland) before choosing painting as the primary means of artistic expression in the 1950s. In 1958 he moved to the Federal Republic of Germany. From 1969 he worked as a freelancer. From 1978 Krajewski lived in Rehweiler in the Palatinate .

Krajewski was a member of the Federal Association of Visual Artists (BBK), the Esslingen Artists' Guild and the Kusel Art Circle.

Krajewski's painting was shaped by his activity as a musician. He developed his pictures, which can be seen as psychograms of mental states, from the interplay of color sounds. On the one hand, Krajewski constructed cool, calculated color field paintings, on the other hand, real orgies of color emerged when he sprayed the paint over the canvas, apparently without control.

His works move in the field of tension between constructivism and abstract expressionism .
