Marie-Luise Salden also Marie-Luise Blersch-Salden (born April 25, 1939 in Elbing , West Prussia ) is a contemporary German artist and museum educator .

Live and act

Marie-Luise Salden studied art in Hamburg from 1963 to 1965 and then until 1967 design at the Kiel University of Applied Sciences . In 1974 she was a visiting student at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris. She is a member of the Federal Association of Visual Artists , Art 7, the Esslingen Artists' Guild and the international association of wood cutters XYLON . In 1997 she received a Japan scholarship, she was artist in residence in the woodcut and paper making department at Kyoto Seika University, in 1998 she was a visiting professor at the Kanazawa State Art Academy and from 2000 to 2003 she had further study visits to Japan. She also accompanied the touring exhibition "Interfaces" of the German section of XYLON in Japan. Salden works as an artist in the fields of color woodcuts, India ink and chalk drawings and watercolor painting. She makes hand-made paper objects. Her illustrations have been published in books and calendars, for example in “Grafik der Gegenwart” 2003, as well as in numerous periodicals, including colored woodcuts in the book illustration magazine “ Illustration 63 ”. About her work in the Bonn exhibition “bizarr” (2006) it was said that she “dedicates herself to the myth and living being tree in her abstract ink drawings. Line movements (" bio-rhythms of trees"), which are similar to an EKG , are derived from the tree . In 2004 and 2005 she did studies on dolphin therapy in Western Australia and taught in 2005 during the Germany Year in Japan in the project “Germany in Japan 2005/06”. Her work is represented in public and private collections and museums. In a discussion of the exhibition (“Werkstatt”, 2003) it was said of their colored woodcuts that they were “in their basic mood and shape sensitively coordinated sheets with poetic substance and transcendent depth of thought” .

Marie-Luise Salden is a freelancer at the Käthe Kollwitz Museum in Cologne and has taught at the Museum Ludwig , the Museum for East Asian Art (Cologne) as well as at the Wuppertaler Von der Heydt Museum , the Bonn Art Museum and the Museum Kurhaus Kleve . She lives in Troisdorf .
