Balhary House

Balhary House is a villa near the Scottish village of Alyth in the Council Area Perth and Kinross . In 1971 the structure was included in the Scottish monument lists in the highest monument category A.

John Smyth had Balhary House built. He entrusted a local architect named John Carver with the planning . The work was carried out between 1817 and 1821. To this day, Balhary House has remained unchanged.

The villa is largely isolated around two kilometers southeast of Alyth. It is designed in the classical Georgian style. The two-story building has an L-shaped floor plan. Its masonry consists of stone blocks. The north-east exposed main facade is three axes wide. A small portico with four Doric columns emerges in the middle . A triplet window is let in above it . The opening on the three-axis south-east facade is bevelled. The facade is executed with corner projections . On the northeast side there is a single-story wing. This is connected to a pavilion with a segment-arched triple window via a short component .
