Balint Karosi

Balint Karosi (own name Bálint Karosi , * 1979 in Budapest ) is a Hungarian organist and clarinetist .

Education

He learned to play the piano and clarinet at the age of six . At 17 he started playing the organ . He studied at the Franz Liszt Music Academy with Gábor Lehotka as a teacher between 1997 and 1999, then at the Geneva Conservatory in the "classe de virtuosité" course under Lionel Rogg between 1999 and 2001. There he won the " Prix ​​de virtuosité avec distinction " for both organ and clarinet.

Prizes, awards

While studying in Switzerland , he received a full scholarship from the Swiss Federation. He won numerous international competitions as an organ player and clarinetist. In 2001 he won the Grand prix d'improvisation "Rochette" of the Geneva Conservatory and second prize in the Carl Maria von Weber music competition in Essen. He won third prize in an organ competition in Korschenbroich. He also won a third prize at the public competition "Dom zu Speyer" 2000 and a special prize at the National Meeting of Young Organists.

On July 19, 2008 he won the 16th International Johann Sebastian Bach Competition in Leipzig for organ.

Appearances

Bálint Karosi performs internationally in countries such as Hungary, Switzerland, Ireland , Poland , Germany , France and in the United States . He also plays for radio and television and has released numerous CDs. He has been a senior church musician at the First Lutheran Church in Boston , MA since 2007 (as of 10/2012) . He performs regularly in this church as well as throughout New England.
