The Balkan buttercup ( Ranunculus psilostachys ) is a species of the genus buttercup ( Ranunculus ).
features
The Balkan buttercup is a perennial, herbaceous plant that reaches heights of 20 to 35 centimeters. The plant forms subterranean runners and tubers. The stem and leaves are hairy white. The basal leaves usually have three sections of the first order. The sections are wedge-shaped and lobed and split or divided. The middle section is stalked. The anthers are yellow.
The flowering period extends from May to June.
The number of chromosomes is 2n = 16.
Occurrence
The species occurs in the Balkans. It grows in bushes and dry grass corridors at altitudes of mostly 900 to 1200 meters, rarely from 600 or up to 2200 meters.

The Balkan buttercup is rarely used as an ornamental plant for rock gardens.
