Ballard Down
Ballard Down is an area of open chalk cliffs on the Isle of Purbeck , County of Dorset on the south coast of England , about 17 kilometers southwest of Bournemouth .
It forms a headland called Ballard Point between Studland Bay and Swanage Bay on the English Channel . Ballard Down is about nine kilometers south of the town of Poole . The Jurassic Coast (a World Heritage Site ) begins at Ballard Down Old Harry Rocks , Handfast Point .
