Balle , also Baller or Balli , was a Swedish rune master who was active in the 11th century .

About 30 different runic scripts are documented by Balle . They are mainly located in the historical Uppland landscape as well as in the Södermanland and Värmland landscapes . It is believed that he was a pupil of the rune master Livsten , whose works are dated between 1025 and 1050. This assumption is supported by the Altuna rune stone , on which Balle recorded that he and Freystein belong to Livsten's followers.

In contrast to other rune masters of his time, Balle also wrote relief rune stones ( relief rune stones in Löts kyrka , relief rune stone Sö 92 ) and several writings in verse form . He was probably also active as a poet .
