Balneário Camboriú - founded on July 20, 1964 - is a coastal city in Brazil with 1,898 high-rise buildings . The city is located in the state of Santa Catarina , 80 km north of its capital Florianópolis , and had an estimated population of 138,732 in 2018.

During the main season, from Christmas to Carnival and in October for Oktoberfest in Blumenau , 80 km away, the population of Balneário Camboriú increases by over 600,000, many times the actual population. Most of the guests come from Brazil , Paraguay and Argentina . Here there is the world's only cable car that connects two beaches.
In 1997, a tourist complex with the 33 m high statue of Cristo Luz (similar to the Christ statue of Rio de Janeiro ) was built on a hill behind the city .
The main attractions of the city are the beaches. The city beach, located in a bay, is around 8 km long. There are also many smaller beaches, for example Laranjeiras, Estaleiro or Pinho, Brazil's first official nudist beach.

The nearest airports are those of Navegantes (10 km) and Florianópolis.
There are bus connections (partly via São Paulo) to all major cities in Brazil as well as direct to Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay and Chile.
Balneário Camboriú has a good infrastructure and has a hospital.
