The Balqon Corporation is a US manufacturer of commercial vehicles and components for electric vehicles. The company is a public company based in Santa Ana , California . The company has a manufacturing facility in Harbor City, California .
Vehicle models
Its main products (as of 2009) are two heavy-duty tractors the Nautilus E20 - Electric Yard Tractor and the Nautilus E30 - Electric Drayage Tractor for the transport of containers in ports, container stations, warehouses, barracks and combined transport facilities.
Towards the end of 2009, the company replaced its Nautilus E20 and Nautilus E30 with the Nautilus XE20 and Nautilus XE30 . The new models differ from the old ones in that they are equipped with lithium iron phosphate batteries instead of VRLA batteries . The motorization remains the same as before.
Nautilus E20
The Nautilus E20 is a tractor with two axles and an output of 150 kW (200 HP ) that can move 30 tons of cargo. The maximum speed is 40 km / h. The range with the 140 kWh / 336 volt battery is 48 km (fully charged) to 100 km (empty). The battery can be changed in five minutes, fully charged in four hours, and 60% charged in one hour.
Nautilus E30
The Nautilus E30 is a tractor with three axles and an output of 220 kW (300 PS) that can pull 30 tons of cargo. The top speed is 72 km / h (45 mph). The range is 150 km (fully charged) to 240 km (uncharged).
Project Mule
Around 2008/2009, the company developed the Mule M150 - Electric Truck, a 7-tonne truck that is said to be 55 miles / h and whose range should be between 90 miles (fully loaded) and 150 miles. The model was launched in September 2009.
In the summer of 2011, the Balqon Corporation then placed the Mule M100 model in the electric vehicle market.
