Balrampur is a small town in the Indian state of Chhattisgarh .

The settlement is the capital of the Balrampur district . Balrampur has the status of Nagar Panchayat . The city is divided into 15 wards . It had 4,456 inhabitants on the cut-off date of the 2011 census , of which 2,330 were men and 2,126 were women . The literacy rate in 2011 was 81.2% and thus above the national average. Hindus make up the majority of the city's population with a share of around 71%. Muslims form a minority with a share of around 16%.
