Balthasar Behem Codex
The Balthasar Behem Codex (Polish: Kodeks Baltazara Behema ) or Codex Picturatus is a manuscript written in German in 1505 by the Krakow city clerk Balthasar Behem (* approx. 1460; † 1508) in Gothic letters , which describes the privileges and statutes of Krakow ( Jura municipalia - Wylkör der Stad arbitrariness, municipal law ) as well as the Krakow guilds and guilds .
The work, which is valued as a source for the everyday life of craftsmen and which is kept in the Jagiellonian Library in Krakow, also contains Latin texts and, above all, 27 sophisticated color illustrations. Page 246 v. Chr. for example shows the baker with the headline: Pistores - This is the briff and laws of the Becker czu Krokaw.
Presumably due to the death of the author, there is no text in the code on pages 276 to 300, but some illustrations, for example by ore cutters.
