Bruno Bucher

Bruno Bucher (born April 24, 1826 in Köslin ; † June 9, 1899 in Vienna ) was a German art writer and director of the Museum of Applied Arts in Vienna.

Life

He was a son of the high school professor and geographer August Leopold Bucher (1783–1863) and the younger brother of the Prussian statesman Lothar Bucher . He attended the Dresden Art Academy , but had to give up his own artistic activity due to an eye problem and started working as a journalist. From 1856 he lived in Vienna and in 1859 became secretary of the local Museum of Art and Industry , later curator and in 1895 its director.
