Ban Tha Kae
Ban Tha Khae (alternative spelling: Ban Tha Kae, Thai : บ้าน ท่า แค ) is an archaeological site in the district ( Amphoe ) Mueang Lop Buri in the province of Lop Buri in the central region of Thailand .
Location and excavation history
Ban Tha Kae is about 5 km south of Non Ma Kla and 15 km southwest of the copper deposits in the Khao Wond Prachan valley. The square takes up an area of 1,200 m by 800 m. The hill was systematically cleared by construction workers and grave robbers, but three archaeologically interesting sites were uncovered. The first probably belongs to the second half of the 2nd millennium BC. During which the copper mines in the northeast were exploited.
Finds
In the first layer, bronze bracelets , clay vessels and jewelry made of seashells and stone were found. The second layer belongs to the Iron Age (around 500 BC) and shows imported spheres made of glass material. The top layer represents the Dvaravati period in Thailand.
