Bananas! * Is a documentary by Swedish filmmaker Fredrik Gertten from 2009. The subject of the documentary is the legal battle between the Dole Food Company and plantation workers from Nicaragua (case: “Tellez versus Dole”) over the use of the DBCP pesticide and its harmful effects Effect on worker fertility .

As early as 2009, the Dole company tried to prevent the documentary film Bananas! * From being shown. After the screening of the film at the Los Angeles Film Festival in June 2009, the Dole company sued the Swedish filmmaker Gertten on July 8th for defamation. On October 15, 2009, the lawsuit was dropped after the film was withdrawn from the festival's competition. At the end of 2010, a court in Los Angeles ruled in favor of the film crew and approved the release of the film in the USA.

In the film, the company is accused of illegally using the toxic and now banned pesticide DBCP on their plantations. Environmentalists from Greenpeace claimed that whoever buys the company's products is contributing to censorship against critical media. Like the documentation, the authors of the black book brand companies accuse the group of “exploiting plantation workers, using dangerous plant poisons and child labor”.

Gertten made the film Big Boys Gone Bananas! * In 2011 about the legal dispute .
