The Bank Windhoek is the only purely in Namibian bank located hand in Namibia. In addition to the head office in Windhoek-Central in the capital Windhoek , the bank has 61 other branches (as of November 2018) throughout the country. Bank Windhoek offers financial services to private and corporate clients. Bank Windhoek is part of the Capricorn Group (until September 23, 2016 Bank Windhoek Holdings )

On June 20, Bank Windhoek placed 44,331,048 shares, the largest initial listing in the history of the Namibian Stock Exchange . For the first time, these were also issued to the general public at an issue price of 875 N $ cents . The shares were oversubscribed 3.5 times.

Social

Bank Windhoek is the main sponsor of the Bank Windhoek Arts Festival , which has been held monthly in Windhoek since 2003, and of the Bank Windhoek Triennale, which has been held since 2008 . In addition, Bank Windhoek has been running training projects for prison inmates in Windhoek since 2003.

Foreign takeover

From the end of 2009, the South African Absa aimed to take over Capricorn Investment Holding and thus Bank Windhoek. However, the Bank of Namibia has refused the takeover as no Namibian bank is allowed to be foreign owned.
