Windhoek-Zentral ( English Windhoek-Central , Afrikaans Windhoek-Sentraal ) mostly Central Business District (CBD) , is the inner city district of Windhoek and the historical center of the capital of Namibia . Windhoek-Zentral is the economic, political and cultural center of the city and the seat of many government and administrative buildings. It is also the seat of the City of Windhoek .
In the extreme south of Windhoek-Zentral, on the border with the southern industrial area and Suiderhof, there is the historically important relaxation area , which was named after the oxen and horses that used to be laid out here. From here, Independence Avenue , the city's main shopping and business street, extends north.
