The 1st Banyuwangi Tour de Ijen took place from December 7th to 9th, 2012 in the east of Java Island in Indonesia around the city of Banyuwangi . The race was part of the UCI Asia Tour 2013 , where it was classified in category 2.2 . The first eight drivers in the overall standings and the first three of each stage as well as those wearing the yellow jersey of the overall leader received points for the Asia ranking list after each stage.

The overall winner of the stage race was Ki Ho Choi ( Hong Kong national team ). He won with a 12 second lead over the second-placed former World Tour rider Óscar Pujol from the Indonesian team Polygon Sweet Nice. The podium was completed by the 41-year-old German Timo Scholz ( CCN Cycling Team ), who also came second on the first stage and won the points classification.

Attendees

Local Indonesian teams as well as foreign teams, including from Australia , Kazakhstan and Malaysia, were at the start . Two Continental teams visited the tour. The only German-speaking participant was Timo Scholz from the CCN Cycling Team .
