The Baradla - stalactite cave is located in the Aggtelek National Park in Hungary . It is part of the Baradla Domica cave system .

The cave shows a great variety of different stone formations and dripstone formations. In the cave there is a concert hall where concerts of all musical styles are often held. The hall is equipped with a stage, in the background of which there is a stalactite field which is accentuated by sophisticated lighting. The concert hall is also shown during the guided tours.

In the past, parts of the cave could be entered by boat, but this is no longer possible today because the water level is too low. One of the largest stalactites in the world can be seen near Jósvafő .

location

The cave is located in northeastern Hungary in Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén County . The main entrances are in Aggtelek and Jósvafő . Some parts of the cave extend over the nearby border into Slovakia . Together with the Domica cave there, it forms the Baradla Domica stalactite cave system by UNESCO .

sightseeing

Various sightseeing tours of 1, 2, 5 and 7 hours are offered all year round. The long tours (5 hours and 7 hours) also include unlit passages. The visitors are equipped with lamps for this. You should register in advance for the long tours. It is advisable to dress warmly, especially on long tours, as the temperature in the cave is only +10 ° C. The sightseeing tours do not go to the Slovak part of the cave.
