The Ochtinská aragonitová jaskyňa (German Ochtinaer Aragonithöhle ) is located in Slovakia , in the area of the municipality Ochtiná , on Revúcka vrchovina (German Großrauschenbacher Bergland ), between the mountains Štítnik and Hrádok. It was discovered accidentally in 1954 while drilling an exploratory shaft. It is unique in the world. There are only 3 similar caves open to the public - in Mexico and Argentina . Of the total length of 300 meters, 230 meters have been accessible since 1972 .

A special feature of this cave is that it was not created by the flow activities of a river, but by the corrosive and caustic activities of the surface water that seeped through the limestone. The cave consists of 10 small rooms. The Milky Way is believed to be the most beautiful hall in the cave. It was named after a long crack in the ceiling that is covered with many small aragonite stars. The variety of shapes of the aragonite decorations (such as needle, spiral and kidney shapes) can also be used in other rooms, such as Admire, for example, in the deep cathedral , star room , oval walkway and magic walkway .
