Baramati is a city in the Indian state of Maharashtra . The city is located approx. 100 km from the metropolis of Pune .

The city is part of the Pune District . Baramati has the status of a Municipal Council . The city is divided into 25 wards . On the cut-off date of the 2011 census it had a total of 54,415 inhabitants, of which 27,643 were men and 26,772 women. Hindus form the largest group of the city's population with a share of over 76%, followed by Muslims with over 13%. The literacy rate in 2011 was 90.32%, well above the national average.

Baramati is well connected by road to major cities in the state. The city is 100 km from Pune. It is connected to it by the road network and the main highways. Baramati is also connected to the rail network to Pune via its own train station. Baramati has an airport ( Baramati Airport ) that currently houses a flight school.

The industries in Baramati vary from textiles to dairy products to food. There are also many foreign companies that have settled here, as the important industrial city of Pune can be reached from here.
