Barani is both a municipality ( French commune rurale ) and a department encompassing the same area in the West African state of Burkina Faso in the Boucle du Mouhoun region and the Kossi province . In 2006 the community had 47,991 inhabitants in 44 villages, the majority of them Fulbe and Bwaba .
