Barbara Veit (lawyer)

Barbara Veit (born 1958 in Monzel ) is a German lawyer and university lecturer .

Life

Barbara Veit studied law at the University of Trier from 1977 to 1984 . In 1989 the doctorate followed and in 1995 the habilitation there . After a substitute for a professorship at the University of Leipzig , she accepted a professorship for civil law with a special focus on family law at the Georg-August-Universität Göttingen in the winter semester 1996/97 . From 2001 to 2002 she was Dean of the Faculty of Law. She was also the managing director of the Institute for Agricultural Law from 2002 to 2012 and director of the Göttingen Institute for private and procedural law from June 2008 to December 2010 .
