The New York Telephone Building (also Verizon Building ) is a New York skyscraper from 1930 right next to Ground Zero . The building is also known as the Barclay-Vesey Building due to its location on the corresponding streets . It now serves as the headquarters of the US telecommunications company Verizon Communications . The building has 32 floors and is 152 meters high, but far from being one of the 200 tallest structures in New York. The New York Telephone Building is an example of Art Deco architecture .

In the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001 , it was severely damaged due to its proximity to the 7th World Trade Center and was then restored by 2005. South of the building (just a few meters away) the One World Trade Center (successor to the old WTC) was built. To the east of the New York Telephone Building is the new 7 World Trade Center .
