The Singapore Open is a golf tournament in Singapore that has been held on the Asian Tour since 1995 . It was founded in 1961 and suspended in 2001 due to a lack of sponsorship.

The Singapore Golf Association initially hoped to revive the event, but it was not until 2005 that the Sentosa Leisure Group was signed as a new sponsor. In 2005, the prize money was two million US dollars, making the Singapore Open by far the most expensive tournament that takes place exclusively on the Asian Tour and is not part of the European Tour. From 2009 to 2012 the tournament also became part of the European tour .

In 2006 the Singapore Open offered a sum of three million US dollars, with a winning share of 475,000 US dollars. In May 2006 it was announced that Barclays Bank would be sponsoring the event for five years from 2006 and that the prize pool would be increased to $ 4 million in 2007 and $ 5 million in 2008. In 2010 the payout was six million US dollars.
